Well, after an eventful week, here's the low-down:
-The parents are okay. A new door and security system has been installed.
-I ran around like a lunatic thinking that I had an exam this Tuesday only to find out that it's next week (and there are now TWO of them on the same day for the same class)
-I had the joyous (note: sarcasm) experience of dissecting a pig in all of its formaldehyde glory on Tuesday. I've done this before when I was in an advanced anatomy course, but back then I wasn't vegetarian. Now...it was not an enjoyable experience.
Side note:Actually, I have noticed a lot of changes in my reactions since becoming a vegetarian. I'm assuming it is due to a loss of certain hormones and chemicals within my body that were produced/introduced due to the meat. Does anyone know specifically?
For example:
Then: I used to love horror movies. Gory? Bring it on.
Now: Um...yes...I'll be...over here and trying not to heave.
Then: What? You have a problem with me? [insert angry statements]
Now: It takes a lot more to make me angry and upset. Now, even if I am upset, I'm more likely to shrug it off and meander elsewhere.
Then: Mmm. Smells great. What's cooking?
Now: Is..is that hamburger?

I know this is probably just a learned behavior response at this point.
Where was I?
Buggers. I have no clue. Alas, back to work.
But for the meat, yuppers. On a basic level, the tongue - with a subconscious, evolution-shaped idea of what is needed for the body to survive - sends not only taste information, but a mildly pleasurable feeling to your brain that creates pleasure receptors. Those are to influence you to eat more of what your subconscious determines is "needed for your body."
Without that stimulation from the tongue, the pleasure receptors decrease. While they don't go away, that does give you ample opportunity to subconsciously develop another feeling towards what you eat.
I for one, stopped eating chocolate a couple of years ago. I no longer crave it, even when it is put right in front of me, complete with fork.

Anyways, it's good that your parents were okay, as far as the break in. That can still be scarey though, knowing that someone can break into your home like that.
As far as the meat, I dunno Miss Nightbug. I still haven't been able to do the vegetarian thing. I likes my meat too much. However, I still would be unable to do the killing myself. I guess if this were not an industrial nation, I would either learn to kill, or eat vegetables. I don't even like fishing. Poor little fish flopping around, dying. But man if you put a deep fried catfish fillet on my plate, I'll damn sure eat it. 8-)
I can at least say the less I drink, as I am still working on that, the less irritable I am sometimes. Not always, but if I am already in a crappy mood and I drink, it just makes it worse. Course lack of sleep does that to me too, but with two kids that almost impossible to get all the sleep you need.
I'll try and be more frequent visiting. Take care Miss Nightbug.
As for horror films, I use to love them as a child. But as I got older, I can only watch a few horror films. I have a problem with the so-called "slasher" films. I do not enjoy watching innocent teenagers getting cut up. And I refuse to watch any of the "Saw" films. However, a horror film such as "The Descent", I can watch with no problem.
I still eat meat, especially from the grill. That smell appeals to me. But if I smell hamburger cooked in a skillet, that grease odor really turns me off.
you gave up meat huh? Then I guess you don't want me to tell you that R is grilling out some steaks right now??? I won't tell you...shhhh...it's a secret! LOL
Stopping by to say hello...I hope you had a great weekend. Stop by and say hello when you have a chance. Take care out there...
